As with many other Artists Samantha has loved to draw and paint since childhood, but only came back to art in 2017 after the birth of her second child and a very long break. She was looking for something to help slow down a busy life and busy mind and this was when she fell in love with colour pencils.
Taking inspiration from the wildlife that regularly visited her small urban garden, she started to draw the animals and birds that she could see from the window. She draws from photographs and loves the versatility and detail that can be achieved with coloured pencils, branching out into wildlife and birds from further afield as well as pet portraits of our furry friends.
Based from her home studio in Bristol she now splits her time between pet portrait commissions and art tutoring in her Art and Mindset Membership that was founded in December 2020. This membership combines her love for teaching people how to improve their art skills with tutorials, sketchbook exercises and ongoing support but also how art can be such a therapy for creating positive mindset. She recognises that now more than ever that people need to occupy their minds with something positive, creative and gives you a sense of achievement and so ‘Discovering the Artist within you’ Art and Mindset Membership was born! Samantha also runs regular tutorials, draw-alongs and workshops on her art Facebook Group ‘Artist’s Community’ which was set up for artists to join wherever they are in their art journey to feel supported, inspired, ask questions and show their work.
